JOB TITLE: ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled work in the enforcement of ordinances and statutes related to the control of animals for the Animal Control Department. Work involves capturing, confining, and caring for stray animals; maintaining records pertaining to collection of animals and bothersome animal activity; and enforcing animal ordinances. Employee is responsible for answering compliant calls from Emergency Operations Center, the general public, and capturing and confining unwanted animals; assisting the public with the adoption of a pet or for those who have a missing pet; assisting in the general maintenance of the kennel and care for impounded animals; transporting unclaimed or diseased animals to a nearby Parish for humane destruction; and preparing associated reports and records. Employee is subject to the usual hazards of animal control work. Reports to the Animal Shelter Supervisor.

Educate the public on responsible pet ownership and promote and support in St. Charles Parish Animal Control’s programs and mission.
